RHS vocalists deliver star performances at regionals
Rugby High band members weren’t the only musicians to reach for the stars in the Region IV vocal competition held April 14.
Choir Director Abigail Landsteiner said, “RHS students earned the maximum number of stars for both state and regional categories. Congratulations Panthers!”
Performing “Dream for Me” in the girls’ vocal ensemble competition were: Amber Selensky, Annie Risovi, Ryli Kuhnhenn, Amelia Shepard, Rean Espartero, Megan Harmel, Zarah-Mae Keenan and Anna Bogar. The group also performed “A Quiet Sanctus.”
Keenan, Selensky and Harmel performed “The Parting Glass” as a trio, while Bogar and Annie Risovi performed “The Snow Begins to Fall” for the girls’ vocal ensemble competition.
Risovi performed “American Lullaby” as a solo.
Selensky, Risovi, Kuhnhenn and Harmel joined Warren Walker, Isaiah Bundy-Smith and Andrew Duchscher in a regional star-winning performance of “Wellerman” in the mixed vocal ensemble category.
Also earning a star in that category for a performance of “Sweet and Low” were Selensky, Risovi, Kuhnhenn, Harmel, Keenan, Bogar, Walker, Duchscher and Bundy-Smith.
Walker earned a regional star for his solo performance of “Wayfaring Stranger.”
A duo performance of “Remember Me” earned Harmel and Selensky both regional and state stars. Keenan and Walker also earned regional and state stars for their mixed vocal ensemble performance of “Till the Stars Fall from the Sky.”
