The Rugby Panthers speech team took several awards home from the North Dakota High School Activities Association Speech Tournament held in Mandan April 24.

In an email message to the Tribune, coach Dana Thoreson said, “Katelyn Duschscher , Annie Risovi and Allison Selensky contributed to team points in their events helping us reach seventh place overall out of more than 60 Class B Schools represented.”

Amber Selensky placed second in the humorous interpretation category. Selensky’s Impromptu presentation gave her a fourth place tie score and fifth place in the tiebreaker for that category.

Zarah-Mae Keenan placed third in for her dramatic interpretation. Keenan placed sixth in the extemporaneous programmed reading category.

Katelyn Duchscher placed eighth overall in the storytelling category.

Annie Risovi, the only sophomore among three seniors on the Rugby state team, added points to the Panthers’ overall score with her impromptu performance but did not place.
