One-act play team wins region contest

Rugby High School’s one-act play team is state-bound.

The team won the regional competition, which was held in Rugby earlier this month. The state competition will be held in Jamestown on Monday (Nov. 20) and Tuesday (Nov. 21).

At the regional competition, Rugby’s team got an honorable mention award for superior acting. Maria Mack received an individual outstanding actor award.

The team performed the play “Desdemona in the Afterlife,” by Nelly E. Cuellar-Garcia. Cast members were Mack, Kaitlyn Boucher, Beth Boucher, Madalyn Pretzer, Riley Grove, Kate Heidlebaugh, Melody Johnson, Brittany Loughman, Zarah-Mae Keenan, Lilly Schmidt and Morgan LaRocque. RHS language arts instructor Shannon Miller was the director.
