NCEC hosting career symposium
Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) will be buzzing with energetic and enthusiastic students next Wednesday, September 14, when North Central Education Cooperative (NCEC) hosts its fourth annual college and career symposium for high school students from around the region.
Business and industry representatives will present to students in ten different career areas: Natural Resources, IT, Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Energy, Healthcare, Education, and Photography as well as a student panel on tips for their first year of college. Presenters will share their own career story along with current needs and trends in their fields as well as educational requirements and job outlook. Students will have opportunity to ask questions of each panel.
Schools registered to attend include Bottineau, Dunseith, St. John, Rugby, Westhope, Newburg, Towner, Granville and Turtle Mountain Community High School
The day will begin in the Thatcher Hall Gym with college recruiters at 9 a.m. Following the college fair, students will hear from the “Attitude Doctor,” Dr. Terry Fleck. His presentation is entitled, “The Attitude Virus.” After lunch, the students attend various career panels with the last panel ending at 2:00 p.m. Students will have opportunity to listen to and ask questions of each panel group as they rotate through the career areas. Each panel lasts 20 minutes.
