FBLA Holds Miracle Minute Fundraiser

By Staff | Mar 8, 2016

The Rugby FBLA held a fundraiser recently for the March of Dimes.

The March of Dimes is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The March of Dimes and FBLA-PBL have been partners since the 1970’s when they formed an official national alliance to save babies and have since raised over $12 million dollars. A portion of the money is given back to FBLA-PBL and is available in the form of grants for leadership projects.

The Rugby High School FBLA chapter conducted a March of Dimes event during half-time of the boys’ varsity basketball game vs. Velva. Informational leaflets were placed in each program to inform spectators and posters were put up around the school and gym. Mr. Randy Deckert announced the start of the activity by conveying the March of Dimes mission statement and then placed one minute on the clock. The buzzer sounded and 10 members of the FBLA chapter made their way through the crowd with buckets collecting fast contributions. After one-minute the buzzer sounded again and the event ended. The money was counted and at the end of the third quarter a very special thank you was conveyed to all the donors and the amount collected, in just one minute, was an amazing $509.76 dollars!

The RHS FBLA Chapter would like to sincerely extend a very special thank you to everyone, once again, who graciously gave donations to such a worthy cause.

A check in the amount of $509.76 will be mailed to the March of Dimes office in Fargo.
