Miller qualifies at Rolla speech meet

By Staff | Feb 20, 2015

Submitted The Rugby Speech team placed second at a speech meet in Rolla last week.

The streak continues. Another Rugby High School student has qualified for the state speech tournament to be held April 25 in Mandan, ND. Zach Miller, competing in Speech to Entertain, allowed his audiences and judges to laugh-out-loud. In only six minutes, Miller conveyed his inabilities to make difficult decisions in an original piece titled “Decidophobia.” With decisions ranging from choosing what to eat at Greater Taco to choosing the correct smelling deodorant, Miller’s captivating presence kept his listeners riveted.

Rugby High School competed at their fourth speech invitational on February 14 in Rolla, ND. In attendance were six other schools: Carrington, North Star, Langdon, Rolla, Rolette, and Leeds. Rugby, which took 15 students to the competition, placed second behind Carrington. North Star placed third.

Rugby will travel to Berthold’s invitational tournament on February 21.
