By Staff | Mar 28, 2014

Out of a large number of students, Rugby High School student Thor Skjelver was able to place in his event at a speech meet March 22 in Carrington.

The freshman took eighth place in Humorous Interpretation, an event with 43 competitors.

Eighth-grader and state qualifier Kaitlyn Boucher placed in two events, and secured a “top novice” award in two other events. The junior duos of ReeAnn Christianson and Darby Deckert and Zach Miller and Emily Stier also placed.

The speech team is competing in Cando today in the last regular meet before the regional competition in Harvey (April 5). Boucher and any others on the team, who qualify in those two meets, will travel to Grand Forks on April 26 for the state competition.
