On Wednesday Oct. 16 the Rugby FFA Chapter won the ND State FFA Parliamentary Procedure contest. The team members are:

President – Keylee Odden, Vice President – Amber Jaeger, Secretary – Elizabeth Blessum, Treasurer – Nicole Atkinson,

Reporter – Cassandra Jaeger, Sentinel – Devin Volk, Student Advisor – Patricia Pfeifer

The officer team worked very hard holding practices at 6:15 a.m. everyday in preparation for the contest. The team would not have been able to accomplish this achievement if it had not been for the support and assistance of the assistant officer team. The assistant team provide enthusiasm and excitement at all practices.

The team started their pursuit of becoming State Parliamentary Procedure champions back in June at our annual FFA Officers Retreat. When school began they started practicing four days a week up until the District 3 Contest held in Rugby on Wednesday, October 2. At the district contest they placed first and advanced to the state contest held in the ND state capital on Wednesday, October 16.

The 16 teams that qualified for the state contest were divided into two groups with the top two teams in each group advancing to the final four. The team performed in front of over 100 spectators. After the teams in the finals completed their performances the judges met and Rugby was named the state champions.

The team will now be competing on the national level in Louisville, Kentucky Thursday, October 31. The team will compete against the state champions from the other states for the right to be national champions. If they are successful and achieve their goal as national champions, all members of the team will receive $1,000.00.
