Rugby “Crash Course” a success
Over 135 parents and students took part in the first “Crash Course” on college and career planning at Rugby High School on Monday, Jan. 24.
Crash Course, a free regional event, began with a meal and featured hands-on sessions for students in grades 7 through 12 and their parents. Each participant received a collection of resources and information regarding completing the FAFSA for financial aid, local and in-state jobs, RUReady.com (career exploration), College Resources, and the state Academic or Career and Technical scholarships.
RHS counselor Julie Sjol hosted the event. Two prizes were awarded through a random drawing. Sue Hamilton, Rugby, won a digital camera. Matt Johnson, Rugby, won a laptop computer, which was sponsored by the Rugby Job Development Authority. Other sponsors of the event included Merchants Bank, Bremer Bank, Ramsey National Bank, and North Star Community Credit Union, all of Rugby.
