Rugby FFA Chapter attends leadership conferences
The Rugby FFA chapter recently attended the annual leadership conferences in Bismarck over the weekend of Jan. 8 and 9, 2011. There are three conferences that include Greenhand, 212, and 360 conferences.
The Greenhand conference is for first year ag students. At this conference FFA members learn the basics of leadership and etiquette. There is also a scavenger hunt and they participate in general sessions and the Greenhand quiz.
The 212 conference is for second year ag students. 212 degrees is the temperature at which water boils. At 211 degrees, water is extremely hot, but just one more degree takes it up another level and changes its state. The 212 degree conference challenges students to push past their limits to the boiling point of leadership.
The 360 conference is for FFA members who have been in ag classes for three or more years. 360 degrees takes students full circle through chapter leadership development. Attendees learn how to develop action plans for their chapters from every angle.Themes for this conference were action and influence.
A banquet was also held to give awards to 14 sophomores to expand in their current SAE program. Brian Jordan, Rugby, received a $1,000 dollar grant to expand and make his SAE program better.
