Ely School educators study CIP up close
Jason Gullickson. principal, and several teachers from Ely School went to Minot’s Jim Hill Middle School to observe the Comprehensive Intervention Program (CIP) in action. The CIP is a program for students in grades 4-12 who are performing one or more grade levels below the grade they are in.
For the students who are enrolled in the program, instruction lasts 90 minutes and takes place in a separate classroom. The large group instruction lasts for twenty minutes before small groups of students break out into different stations (reading, computer, etc.) where they concentrate in one area of learning. One room is specifically set aside for this program and teachers go to that room to teach.
Gullickson reported to the school board at their December meeting that sixteen Ely students would qualify for this program. He said it was great to have the opportunity to observe the program in action.
In further business before the board, the superintendent evaluation was approved by the board. The evaluation included that Mr. Jeff Lind is easy to work with, among other positive statements.

*Gearing Up for Kindergarten starts on Tuesday, January 4. If any parents need information on this program, contact Ely School.
*The board voted unanimously to purchase new shot clocks and upgrade the system. The cost is $5,600.
