Part of RHS gym floor replaced

By Staff | Jul 15, 2010

Spectators attending sporting events at Rugby’s Charles Hanneman Gymnasium this coming school year may notice a change on the court.

The perimeter around the basketball court was recently repainted orange and black as well as the free throw lanes and a large Panther logo was placed at center court. In addition, a large section of the wood floor had to be replaced due to water seeping underneath, according to Jeff Lind, school superintendent. A leaky pipe from a nearby water fountain was the culprit. Crews from FLR Sanding of Princeton, Minn. was hired to remove the damaged section of floor and install a new section and sand it down. A new paint design on the floor was needed to match the new floor with the existing one. The district’s estimated costs for the work was about $40,000.

It was nine years ago when the school installed a wood floor in the gymnasium.
