Rugby band students excel at state festival

The Rugby concert band members had a successful day at the State Class B Music Festival in Minot on May 1.

The band received 11 stars out of 12 entries. Those who received stars were: Anja Selland and McKenzie Cameron, flute duet – “Concerto for Two Flutes” by Vivaldi; Aubrey Hovland, french horn – “Concerto #4” by Mozart; Rachel Mack, french horn – “Concerto #3” by Mozart; Hovland and Mack, french horn duet – “Allegretto” by C.T. Henning; Abigail Jenkins, oboe solo – “Concerto for Oboe” by Mozart; Benji Miller, drums – “The Downfall or Paris” by H.Har; Theresa Mack, trumpet – “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Rimsky-Korsakov; Theresa Mack and Zach Rameden, trumpet duet – “Rondinetto” by St. Jacomme; David Miller, alto saxophone – “Sonatina” by Mozart; David Miller, tenor saxophone – “Two Bourees” by Bach; Kristopher Leier, Keenan Sattler, Aubrey Hovland, Rachel Mack, Zach Rameden and Theresa Mack, mixed brass ensemble – “Passamezzo Brillante” by Ostransky. Abigail Jenkins and Emily Pfeifer received a II rating for their clarinet and oboe duet, “Bouree” by Bach.
