Rugby students earn ‘stars’
Rugby High School students continued a tradition of strong performances at the vocal regional musical festival.
Fourteen students earned star ratings, qualifying for the state festival later this spring and several received high marks from judges at the April 1 event in Maddock.
Performances received ratings of good, excellent and superior. In addition, each judge selected an outstanding performance of her/his catagory.
The following students received a Superior rating on their solo: Theresa Mack, Abigail Jenkins, Keenan Sattler, David Miller, and Anne Schmaltz.
The following students also received a Superior rating in small group events: Crystal Hovland, Aubrey Hovland, Carly Wise, Kristen Mundahl, Kristan Salwey, Kassie Stoltman, Rachel Mack, Leigha Schmaltz, Ricca Laframboise for “Charlottown”; T. and R. Mack in “For The Beauty Of The Earth”; T. Mack, A. Jenkins and A. Schmaltz with “Stand Upon The Rock”; C. Hovland. and A. Hovland, A. Schmaltz, Jenkins and T. Mack and R. Mack for “Maidens Remember”; Sattler, A. Schmaltz, T. Mack and Jenkins in “When The Day Comes”.
The following students received a Good or Excellent rating in solo and small group events: Erica Parcel, Emerald Collins, Amanda Longie, Lexi Everson, Kassie Stoltman, Rachel Schmaltz, Jacob McClintock, Levi Bachman-Williams, Dalton Hershey, Emily Pfeifer, Tashal Trottier, and Allison Leer.
Outstanding performance awards
T. Mack received an outstanding performance award for her solo and Mack along with A. Schmaltz and Jenkins received outstanding performance recognition for their selection: “Stand Upon The Rock”.
