DI teams place high at state event
Rugby and Leeds Destination ImagiNation programs shined at the recent state competition last month in Casselton.
Two teams from Rugby won their division and one from Leeds also took first place. These programs have earned the opportunity to compete at the Global Finals in Knoxville, TN later this spring.
Five teams from Rugby and two from Leeds took part in the competition.
Destination ImagiNation (formerly Odyessy of the Mind) is a program that teaches students that no matter what the problem, it can be solved through collaboration and creativity of team of people. Students learn to take apart complex problems and solve them step by step. These acquired skills can be put to good use in all areas of the future.
Karen Black, Rugby program coordinator, is
proud of each of the teams, noting they trained and competed well at the state event in Casselton. She added the program’s success is also tied to those dedicated parents who volunteer and serve as team managers.
In addition to the two teams that placed first, one finished second; another fourth; and one competed in the Rising Stars non-competitive division.
Two Leeds teams participated in the state competition. One squad won their division and the other tied for third. Jana Darling is the DI coordinator at Leeds.
