Rugby once again earned favor from the judges at the Class B Region 4 one-act play competition held Nov. 5 in Rugby.

Rugby defended its title, and for the second straight year, the entire cast received an outstanding performance ensemble award.

The cast and crew includes: Zach Rameden, Jenna Fossum, Anne Schmaltz, Janessa Veach, Abi Jenkins, Levin Bachman-Williams, Theresa Mack, David Miller, Aubrey Hovland, Crystal Hovland, Tashal Trottier, Ashley Houim, Rachel Hoffert and Keenan Sattler. Shannon Miller is the director.

In addition, Mack, Jenkins and Bachman-Williams were also received individual oustanding performance awards from the judges.

The one-act Rugby performed was called, “The Apple”, and takes place in an art museum and featured several eccentric art patrons who mistakenly believe one misplaced apple could a prized and “dangerous” exhibit.

Rugby will now compete at the Class B state event later this month in Bismarck-Mandan. Harvey was runner-up and will also take part in the state competition.

In addition to Rugby and Harvey, Maddock, Wolford, Leeds, Minnewaukan, Starkweather and Bottineau also gave performances.

Wolford’s Holly Haas was one of a handful who received honorable mention by judges for her acting performance.
