Rugby won eight categories en route to its third straight Region 4 speech meet title on April 4.

Lakota was runner-up with Starkweather third, Wolford fourth and Rolette fifth. The top two finishers in each category qualified for the Class B state event later this month.

Category winners for Rugby were: Shelby Deckert, impromptu and storytelling; Zach Rameden, serious interpretation; Trista Trottier, poetry; Janessa Veach, speech to entertain; Chris Brazier, speech to inform; Abi Jenkins-Theresa Mack, humorous duo; Monica Pritchett-T. Mack, serious duo. In addition, Rugby had six second place finishes, which also qualified for state.

Wolford’s Jillian Dunn placed second in speech to persuade to qualify for state. Rolette’s Teri Bohara won the radio category, qualifying for state.
