As communities across the country begin preparations for the United States’ 250th anniversary, Freedom 250 is bringing its traveling Mobile Museum, known as “Freedom Trucks,” to Rugby in June. The mobile museum offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the nation’s history through an interactive exhibit designed for all ages.

The “Freedom Truck” will kick off two weeks of celebrating America’s 250th anniversary in Rugby.

The Mobile Museum will be in Rugby from Monday, June 22, to Wednesday, June 24, at Rugby High School, 1123 South Main Ave. Times are June 22 from 1-5 p.m., and June 23-24 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

According to the news release, rather than asking Americans to travel to Washington, D.C., the museum will come to them transforming schools, civic spaces and public venues into engaging educational environments. Each custom-built mobile exhibit features museum-quality interactive technology, multimedia storytelling and hands-on experiences that highlight America’s founding, defining chapters and the innovation that continues to shape our nation’s future.

“America’s 250th anniversary is a moment to reflect on where we’ve been and inspire the next generation about America’s glowing future,” said Freedom 250 spokesperson Skylar Swanson. “By bringing these interactive exhibits directly into North Dakota communities, we’re making our nation’s history accessible, engaging and a memorable experience, especially for students who will carry the American story forward.”

Rugby has even more going on to celebrate America 250.

The Heart of America Library is one of only six libraries across the country hosting the 1823 William J. Stone replica of the Declaration of Independence. This display is made possible by FAPE, Crayola and Crozier. The replica will be on display until July 7.

The Pierce County Fair is scheduled for June 25-28 in Rugby. An America’s 250th Anniversary Program is scheduled for June 25 at 6:30 p.m. The Heritage Singers of Minot, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, contests, local Scouts and ukuleles will be among the happenings. The Rugby Dairy Queen will provide ice cream to help celebrate this event.

The Rugby Chamber of Commerce has several events scheduled starting July 2 with a car show from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Rugby and live music from Too Old To Stand from 6-8 p.m. There will be food, refreshments and more with a photo op of all the cars on Main Street. On July 3, there will be fireworks at dusk, viewable from the Pierce County Fairgrounds. Then on July 4, there will be the annual 4th of July Parade at 1 p.m., with the lineup starting at noon at Rugby High School. Contact 776-5846 with any questions.
