Art, Love, then there is Life — Mary Lindseth shared her talent in downtown Rugby at a pop-up art class, inviting whoever wanted to participate, people who stopped in and looked around, welcoming everyone to pull up a chair to imagine color-connections in their own way.

I was invited to sit down with a group of people, not knowing what to expect except to have fun. As I became comfortable and started to unwind, I observed everyone enjoying themselves and learning from Lindseth. The class was held in a new location filling a spot in downtown Rugby. Stephanie Steinke, owner of the building, decided to open the doors with a new expression everyone searches for, peace, art, quiet time, relaxation and lots of FUN!

Saturday, the 21st of March, a group of us women: Stephanie Steinke, Monica Houim, Mary Lindseth, Kathy Heilman and myself, Jennifer Bercier, listened to Mary’s demonstration, asking questions in between, laughing with each other, making small talk and enjoying each step as we filled in every empty space in the frame for our own stained glass art piece we picked out at the beginning of the class.

Mary demonstrated each step, explaining in detail why certain materials were used from the type of frame we would be working with, the variety of material crushed glass, and beads. She also mentioned how sticky it’s going to get without wearing gloves after laying out the colorful glass and beads, and the sticky part — using resin to hold the glass art in the frames.

Once the resin was poured, the gloves were taken off and we all looked at everyone’s finished artwork, excited to hear about each other’s art pieces once they were dry. Mary thanked everyone for participating in the class as we all finished up and left for the evening.
