Heart of America Library News

By Vicki Hoffart - Heart of America Library Director | Dec 19, 2020

The staff of the Heart of America Library wishes all of you a safe and Merry Christmas. We will be closing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Christmas Eve day and will be closed on Friday, Christmas Day. The library will be open as usual on Saturday.

I forgot to ask last week, but did you write a letter or drop a note to someone? It’s not too late…reach out! We all know someone that could use a little bit of additional human contact.

The Mitten Tree will be up until mid-January. If you have something to donate but prefer to not enter the building, just drop it in the book return.

As usual, there are many new titles this week.

New junior section books include some of Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid titles: “The Long Haul”, “The Ugly Truth”, “The Deep End” and “The Third Wheel”. Additional junior titles are “Brace” by Alyson Gerber; “Spy School Revolution” by Stuart Gibbs; “Rise of Zombert” by Kara LaReau; “The Stars Beneath Our Feet” by David Barclay Moore; “Big Nate: The Gerbil Ate My Homework” by Lincoln Peirce and “Angel of the Prairie” by Kevin Kremer, the heroic story of Hazel Miner during the North Dakota blizzard of 1920.

Additions to adult fiction are “Overthrow” by David Poyer; “The Awakening” by Nora Roberts; “Invisible Life of Addie Larue” by V. E. Schwab; “Dead Lawyers Tell No Tales” by Randy Singer; “Sniper Jackson” by Frederick Sleath; “Summer Harvest Secrets” by Janice Thompson; “The Lives of Edie Pritchard” by Larry Watson; “The Glovemaker” by Ann Weisgarber; and “Night Moves” by Randy Wayne White. Several westerns have been added for our readers interested in that genre. By popular author William W. Johnstone we have “Shot to Hell”, “Bullets Don’t Argue”, “The Legend of Perley Gates” and “A Reason to Die”; “Forgotten Evil” by Sheldon Russell; and “Adam’s First Wife”, “Deal with the Devil”, “Escape from El Gato”, “Last Hunt”, “Mouth of Hell”, and “Summer’s Child” by Ron Schwab.
