Heart of America Library News

By Vicki Hoffart - | Dec 12, 2020

There are many indications of the Holiday Spirit in our community and the Heart of America Library is getting ready, too! The Mitten Tree is up! We are accepting donations for new or gently used winter hats or gloves. These are then given to schools for distribution to children needing those items. This is year 36 for this project at the Heart of America Library.

We have added lots of good reading again this week.

New junior fiction books include “Ragweed and Poppy” by Avi and Brian Floca; “Bad Guys in Dawn of the Underlord,” “Bad Guys in the Baddest Day Ever,” “Bad Guys in the Big Bad Wolf,” and “Bad Guys in THE ONE?!” a series about wannabe heroes doing good deeds by Aaron Blabey; “Eva in the Spotlight,” one of the Owl Diaries by Rebecca Elliot; and “Strays Like Us,” by Cecilia Galante.

Young adult titles are “The Ravens,” by Kass Morgan; “The Tower of Nero,” book five in the Trial of Apollo series, by Rick Riordan; “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry,” by Mildred D. Taylor; and “Before the Ever After,” by Jacqueline Woodson.

An adult biography titled “Homework: a memoir of my Hollywood years,” by Julie Andrews has been added to the shelves.

New adult fiction selections include “Magpie Murders” and “Moonflower Murders,” by Anthony Horowitz; “The Pieces We Keep,” by Kristina McMorris; “His Only Wife,” by Peace A. Medie; “Constant Fear,” by Daniel Palmer and “The Midwife Murders,” by James Patterson.

Large print additions this week are some William Johnstone westerns titled “Pray for Death,” “Rope Burn,” “Too Soon to Die,” “Dig Your Own Grave,” “Hang Them Slowly” and “Rising Fire.”
