Heart of America Library News

By Vicki Hoffart - Heart of America Library Director | Sep 19, 2020

While going through the numerous emails I receive about new books being published, I came across a new one by Jane Kirkpatrick titled “Something Worth Doing” about Abigail Dunaway, a woman who due to circumstances beyond her control ends up being the primary breadwinner in their family. She eventually becomes interested in the rights of women, including their right to vote. This will be on our shelves in about 10 days, I think.

I checked out what we have or might have by this author. We have five of her series, two of which are in large print, and six of her stand-along historical fiction books and two more on order, some of which are in large print. Jane Kirkpatrick is an author that has been writing for several years in the Christian fiction, historical fiction and non-fiction genres. Her Christian fiction books are inspirational without being too preachy, according to reviews that I have read. The historical fiction selections are books about real historical figures that she found interesting, not necessarily famous but someone that she believed had a story worth telling.

The second Story Hour Session will be on September 25 at 10:15 AM. If you are interested in having your child attend, please call the library to pre-register. Our phone number is 776-6223.

Callahan; and “The Book of Joe: the life, wit, and (sometimes accidental) wisdom of Joe Biden” by Jeff Wilser.
