Williston-based band Whiskey Rebellion entertained area crowds at Ellery Park Wednesday evening.
Minus saxophone player Nelson Garcia, band members Mandy Albertson (vocals), Nick Albertson (guitar), Buddy Huff (pedal steel), Albert Falcon (bass) and Adriel Kinunnen (drums) played a variety of songs, including country and classic rock. The band’s influences also include blues and funk.
Wednesday’s performance marked the first time the band ever played in Rugby.
“I thought it was pretty fun, we got to play a lot of music we don’t normally play and the crowd liked it,” Nick said.
The band has performed together for two years, and most of their performances take place in western North Dakota and Montana.
The band will open for and back up American Indian recording artist Keith Secola tonight at the Sky Dancer Casino in Belcourt as part of a KEYA public radio fundraiser. They are also recording an album they hope to release by November.

There are only two concerts left in this year’s Music in the Park series.
Country singer and yodeler Kristi Goldade, of Wishek, will return to the Mark J. Carlson Memorial Gazebo on Aug. 13. Accordion group Dakota Keys will close out the season Aug. 20 with a hamburger picnic. The Rugby Lions Club is sharing the picnic with the Good Sam RV club.
Music in the Park performances take place in Ellery Park at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays during the summer. Tune in to AM 1450 KZZJ in the event of inclement weather for information regarding an alternate site.
