The amount of “Rugby Bucks” has been increased from $500,000 to $750,000 as the Benson County Cooperative Credit Union, Rugby branch, is making $250,000 available to the public.
“Rugby Bucks” are no-interest. The money can be used to purchase items at participating Rugby merchants, and the loans are to be paid off over a nine-month period.
On each purchase, merchants are paying five percent of the purchase price to the banks from which the “Rugby Bucks” came.
Besides Benson County Cooperative Credit Union, Rugby branch, Merchants Bank and First American Bank are participating.
Rugby merchants will keep their doors open until 9 p.m. starting Monday throughout the Christmas season.
