Rachel Allickson was crowned Miss Teen Super Model USA on Saturday, July 23 in the Fargo Dome. She won the title competing against several Fargo young ladies and one each from South Dakota and Minnesota. Sheila Omoth, Christensen Models and Talent, Fargo, sponsored the event.

Her parents are Kevin and Teri Allickson, Rugby.

The 2011 Rugby High School alumna and cheerleader enjoys modeling and has participated in two teen pageants prior to winning this title. She credits her aunt for getting her interested and encouraging her to participate in Miss Teen USA, where she was named second runner-up two years in a row. She earned first runner-up in the Miss International Teen pageant this past year.

When she was started to get discouraged, Rachel Stern of Fargo was the person who kept her going.

With her interest in modeling, the Miss Super Model USA event was a natural fit for her. Unlike the two pageants where she competed in swimsuit, evening gown, etc., in the modeling competition, she competed in personal interview, poise, and her ability to sell an outfit.

” (The modeling competition) was very laid back compared to other pageants I have been in,” said Allickson. “It was a lot of fun.”

She went on to say that local Fargo stores provided the various outfits she modeled.

“We picked our own interview outfit and an evening wear outfit for the crowning,” said Allickson. “We brought those with us.”

The only experience in modeling Allickson has had is last summer when she modeled for Scheels in Fargo. Now, she has a photo shoot with “Super Model, Unlimited”, an international magazine.

She approached both pageants and the modeling competition in a spirit of just having fun with it and she came out a winner.

Her favorite part was getting to meet all the other contestants and her least favorite part was being in high heels all day.

Although she enjoys modeling, what she wants to do for her life’s work is someday own her own beauty salon. She will be attending JZ Trends Academy in Bismarck in September and begin working on her goal. Until then she continues to work as a receptionist at “Stylin’ You” in Rugby.

“I like working there a lot,” said Allickson who is getting an inside-the-industry view of the career she is working towards.

In December, she plans to compete in the Miss ND International pageant, teen division, in Fargo. She needs a platform for this competition and has chosen cyber bullying.

“I’m going to take full advantage (of my position) to get the word out there and stop cyber bullying,” said Allickson. “It would be fun to be a role model,” she adds.
