Lymphatic Decongestive Therapy provides free flowing lymph for good health

By Staff | Feb 25, 2011

Tamara McClintock, DeLt, Rugby, started learning about alternative therapy in 1993. Her interest has been growing ever since.

In February of 2009, Tammy received training at Alternative Medicine Services, Black Hawk, SD, and was certified in The Carter Technique of Lymphatic Drainage.

McClintock opened her own business in October of 2009 and provides therapy at McCabe Family Chiropractic Clinic in Rugby. She provides Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy with the LymphStar Pro in 45 minute sessions.

The Lymphstar Pro is a tool that allows certified users to reach and affect all of the lymph.

“It is painless, non-invasive and very relaxing,” said McClintock . “It’s a very spa-like therapy.”

She explains that the lymphatic system helps eliminate harmful toxins from the body. This system does not have a pump like the circulatory system, so it is prone to congestion. When it does become congested it creates problems within the body. Congestion can be the result of surgeries, poor diet, lack of activity, exposure to chemicals, infections, allergies, edema, the aging process and the list goes on. Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy assists the body do its job. It causes the lymphatic fluid to flow and enables the body to eliminate it.

“When we have a compromised lymphatic system, we become defenseless against virus, fungus, and bacteria,” said McClintock. “This therapy helps the body rid itself of toxins that can cause serious health problems.

Manual Lymphatic Therapy has been around for a long time, however with the equipment developed by co-creator Dr. Cory Carter, the newer technique of lymphatic drainage with light therapy is newer having been established in the 1990s.

When McClintock experienced the benefits of preventative natural therapies, she decided it would be a good business to share with the Rugby community.

“It is very satisfying to help people feel better,” she said.

Appointments can be made at at McCabe Family Chiropratic at 776-7676. She has a flexible schedule which accommodates her ongoing education. She is happy to get back to anyone who has questions about the therapy.

“My hope for my business is to eventually add more alternative therapies,” said McClintock. Currently, she is training with a Facial Revitalization System she hopes to offer soon.

In the meantime she is learning as much as she can about a subject that fascinates her. Her clients will be the benefactors of that education.
