Jodie Kirchofner moves Stylin’ You Salon and Spa to new location

By Staff | Dec 3, 2010

Jodie Kirchofner has a passion for what she does. And what she does is offer a full service spa where customers can get their hair and nails done, have a facial and makeup applied, and receive a body wrap and massage all in one place.

Kirchofner has been operating her salon, Stylin’ You, for the last few years at 221 2nd St. SE in Rugby. Before that she worked under Shirley Blomster in Bismarck and commuted back and forth between there and Rugby. She graduated from R. D. Hairstyling College in Bismarck in 2002 and has been a cosmetologist for eight years.

She outgrew her old location with employees and services and decided to relocate her business in the old North Star Community Credit Union building at 123 2nd St. SE.

In addition to complete hair services, Stylin’ You will offer hair extensions, eyelash extensions, manicures, pedicures, facials, body wraps, parties for bridal parties, tanning and spray tanning, make-up, and massage.

Kirchofner is leasing space in her salon to the Solid Ground Coffee Cafe owned and operated by Sheryl Cameron. Customers at Stylin’ You have the option of purchasing a specialty drink, before, during, or after their appointment for that added touch. Solid Ground opened for business on Friday, November 26 with a drive-up window.

“We are so excited about the coffee shop,” she said.

Kirchofner is also a Paul Mitchell educator and uses his products.

“I have a passion for educating other cosmetologists about Paul Mitchell at salons and at hair shows,” said Kirchofner.

She uses the Young Blood makeup line and sells it at her salon. She has added a few gift lines to her salon, as well. From glitzy purses, to clothing, to hair appliances, Kirchofner has made her salon a one-stop shop for women and men. To top it off she sells professional products for your pet.

Stylin’ You will be open in its new facility on Mondays – Fridays 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, December 6. The phone number is 776-6404.

Kirchofner has on staff, five stylists, two massage therapists, a salon coordinator and a receptionist. Angela Baillie is the coordinator. Rachel Allickson is the receptionist. The stylists are Lori Schneider, Faye Bauer, Melissa Bohl, Dana Lemar, Amber Sattler, and Jodie, owner/cosmetologist. Lee Milbrandt is a massage therapist. Bailly and Sattler are also massage therapists.

“We are a family, a team,” she said. “I enjoy helping the girls; being a mentor.”

Her advice to other women who want to own their own businesses: “Be prepared, it will be harder than you think, but if it is your passion, you will be successful. Don’t lose your vision.”

Kirchofner definitely has a passion for her work.

“I love it, ” she said. “Every day is an adventure.”

The funny part is that Kirchofner went to cosmetology school on a whim. She had graduated from high school and one of her girlfriends was going, so she did, too. It turned out to be a good fit for her.

“I can’t imagine what else I would do,” said Kirchofner. “I love to do it all.”
