Dining: Dakota Farms

By Staff | Aug 19, 2016

Dakota Farms opened in 2011, after an entire building remodel from a former pizza establishment.

In the years since, Kevin Lashman, Manager, has continued to make Dakota Farms the best it can be.

Currently, some changes and improvements are happening at the restaurant and lounge. New menu items have been added, including a Cordon Bleu, a pretzel and cheese sauce combo, and an Oriental Chicken Salad.

Both the restaurant and lounge areas are now offering nightly specials, Monday through Thursday.

Mondays are now Martini Mondays, with all Martinis priced at $3.00. Appetizers will also be served at half price from 6 pm -10 pm.

Tall Beer Tuesdays are now in effect, where “your second beer is on us!” Also, pizzas are available for 20% off from 6 pm 10 pm.

Wing Wednesday takes on a whole new meaning, with free wings in the lounge only from 6 pm until they are gone.

Finally, Thursdays are featuring tea, where all teas are $3.00 and all sandwiches are half price between 6 pm 10 pm.

The specials are in an effort to bring more attention to the lounge area of the business.

“We’d really like to up the lounge business, and whatever it takes, we can do,” Lashman said. “That’s my future goal.”

With soft lighting, a bar space and table seating, the lounge is a place for all to come hang out, eat good food and have a drink.

Recently having fixed its air conditioning, the space is cool and comfortable. New A/C units have been installed, as well as blinds in the dining room.

“We’re a relaxed atmosphere, on both sides,” Lashman said.

The lounge and surrounding rooms are available for the public to rent for events, such as weddings, anniversaries, reunions, conventions and more. “We have enough space over here that we can do a little over 300 people very comfortably,” Lashman said.

Lashman, who said that he appreciates his staff and where they have come, values the employees at Dakota Farms. “We have our regular core [employees] that have been here now, almost from the beginning, and we’re all rolling in the same direction,” he said. “Everybody has been here enough that if I happen to step off for a few days, it doesn’t seem to matter. They roll with the punches pretty well. I’ve got a good staff.”

Dakota Farms is most known for its soups and sandwiches, in which variety is not lacking. With many different choices, and the new additions, crowd favorites are always available.

Lashman expressed that he enjoys working at Dakota Farms because, not only is he back home, but it allows him to spend time with his family.

“I have enough freedom that I can spend some time with my kids and watch them grow up,” he said. “It’s good to be around.”

Dakota Farms is a family restaurant run by a family man, where the food is good and the drinks are plenty. Specials are running now, so take advantage of them and see all that this restaurant and lounge has to offer.
