6-13-20 Letters to the Tribune

June 11, 2020
Pierce County Tribune

Organized.

Prepared.

Determined.

Fierce.

These are just a few of the words I would use to describe the phenomenal young women who had the gumption to organize a Black Lives Matter solidarity march right here in the Geographical Center of North America.

Rugby will forever and always be my hometown. Sometimes I say it with glee whist meeting a fellow Panther out in the world. Sometimes I don't. Ultimately, I know that I am who I am because I was privileged to be raised in the community of Rugby.

Thank you to Rugby PD for the support, the cheer squads throughout the route, the watchful eyes from downtown, and, of course, to the participants of this march.

Regardless of what was shouted at us from afar by 50+ year old white men in their trucks exercising their right to free speech, we are on the right side of history. Philamayaye. Miigwech.

Thank you.

Tawny "Trottier" Cale,

RHS Class of 2005,

Secretary of the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition.
