Ostrem an Orr Auctioneers rep

Rugby, ND auctioneer Mike Ostrem has aligned his auction business to become a representative of Orr Auctioneers Inc. Mike was born and raised in Rugby, ND, as the 3rd generation on his family's small grains and livestock farm. He developed an interest in the auction industry while attending sales at the local livestock auction. As that interest grew to a passion, he attended, and graduated from, Western College of Auctioneering in June of 2010. Mike began his auction career working in sale barns, as well as contracting with auction firms across North Dakota as a bid caller. Since 2015, Mike has been working with Orr Auctioneers as an auctioneer and ring man. Mike was named Champion Merchandise Auctioneer during the 2017 ND Auctioneers Assoc. contest, as well as making the "Top Ten" at the Greater Midwest Livestock Auctioneers Contest in 2016. Mike served as the President of the ND Auctioneers Assoc. in 2018/19 and currently serves on their board of directors. Mike lives in Rugby with his wife Jessalyn. Along with his auction career, he farms on the family operation along-side his parents.

Orr Auctioneers Inc. was established in 1971 and currently conducts farm equipment, business liquidation and real estate auctions across North Dakota. In addition they also conduct large scale Farm and Construction equipment consignment auctions at their auction facility South of Jamestown, ND.

'Amazing Race' collects 678 pairs of shoes

St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church's Catholic Youth Organization collected a total of 678 pairs of shoes to donate for Soles4Souls at their annual "Amazing Race" October 26.

In an email to the Tribune, Event Coordinator Lisa Volk reported the winners, Team St. Crispin, collected 114 pairs of shoes.

"A big thank you to all from the festive teen meal to get the kids and drivers started to the many, many shoe donations both at the doorstep of your home to the doorstep of Little Flower Church," Volk said.

'Fully Alive'

Little Flower Catholic Church will Host a "Fully Alive" Guest Speaker for Teens and Parents on Wednesday, November 20, from 1-3:15pm.

Guest speaker Brigitte Greywater, Licensed School Psychologist, Counselor and Head Volleyball Coach at Lake Region College will be speaking to teens and parents on the afternoon of November 20th from 1-2pm with snacks and crafts until 3:15. Coach Greywater will address the Teen Theme of "Fully Alive" with a talk on recognizing and developing positive skills to combat electronic device and phone addictions. She will discuss "Social Media" driven Teen Depression, Anxiety and Peer Pressure. Teens will also receive coping strategies and information on suicide prevention as part of this talk.

There is no charge and all teens, parents and families in the Rugby community are welcome to attend.
