Todd Ray DeMontigny

July 4, 1956 - Oct. 23, 2019

Todd Ray DeMontigny, 63 of Washburn, ND died on October 23, 2019 after brief bout with cancer. Todd was born 4th of July 1956 in Fessenden, ND to Lloyd and Pauline DeMontigny. He attended Little Flower Catholic Grade School and Rugby High School, graduating in 1974. Todd went to NDSU and NDSSS where he graduated with a degree in electrical technology in 1982.

Todd and Gwen Carlile were married on October 23, 1976 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, ND. They made their first home in Fargo while they attended college. After graduation, they moved to Wright, WY where Todd worked for the Black Thunder Coal Mine as an electrician. The family moved to Washburn, ND in 1984 when Todd began working for the North American Coal Company at Falkirk as an electrician. In 1986, he transferred to the Coteau Mine in Beulah, where are he worked as a welder, heavy equipment operator and electri-cian for the duration of his coal mining career.

Todd and Gwen have three children. Bree (DeNaeyer) and her husband Martin live near Seneca, NE with their three kids, Spencer, Deacon and Medora. Kal lives in Dickinson, ND. Ward and his wife BethAnn live in Grand Folks, ND with their three children, Porter, Everly and Knox.

In 2012, Todd started his own business, HWY 83 Sand. Serving his customers was a source of great pride for him.

He held himself to a standard of excellence in all he did. There was no grey area in Todd's life, his sense of right and wrong was his cardinal characteristic and believed in the truth above all. He was well-loved

and will be missed by many.

His memorial service will be held on November 5, 2019 at 4 pm at the Memorial Building, main street Washburn, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Bismarck Cancer Center, Washburn Ambulance Squad, or donor's choice.
