Little Flower celebrates annual Dine and Bid supper

Little Flower Catholic Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization held its 17th annual Dine and Bid supper last Friday night at the Rugby Eagles Hall.

Parents and organizers Tonia Dosch and Rhonda Livedalen said the event, which features a chicken dinner cooked by Theresa Wangler, usually draws "about 300 people," and they estimated this year's crowd to be about the same size.

"The items we have up for auction we are through family and church support, and a number of local businesses are reached for donations as well. That fulfills the auction part, and then we have a supper on top of this," noted Dosch.

Before the supper, attendees browsed items displayed on tables along the walls of the dining room for the evening's silent auction. More items for a live auction stood near a table where school volunteers sold tickets for the event.

Livedalen said the proceeds from the Dine and Bid night are "raised for the PTO, which supports the school."

Livedalen said the PTO supports the school "in many ways they do technology upgrades, teacher requests, sports equipment, and just general funding."

"They do special activities, too. A plethora of things," Dosch added.

Little Flower elementary students created some of the items up for bid.

Teacher Jenna Heilman's kindergarten class featured a cross, decorated with a process called alcohol painting, which added a stained-glass look to the colors.

Heilman wrote of the students' projects: "One of the great things about being at Little Flower is our students get to partake in creating an item to be bid on. Our students work hard each year on their item and absolutely love doing it."

"Thank you to everyone who stopped out to make this year a success," Heilman added. "If you didn't get to stop out to the Eagles this year, we hope to see you next year! "
