Rugby takes sixth, eighth at 'Orr'iginals invite

Rugby High Schools varsity cross country teams both placed within the top 10 out of more than 30 schools last week at the Jamestown "Orr"iginals Invitational.

Led by Quinn Neppl (17th place out of 136 runners 21:33), the girls cross country team took sixth overall out of 31 teams at the Parkhurst Recreation Area with a score of 190. Mykell Heidlebaugh wasn't too far behind at 21st place (21:49 time). Also placing for the Rugby girls were Keely Arnston (44th 23:01), Karsyn Hager (46th 23:13), Kendyl Hager (62nd 24:02), Ellie Duchscherer (63rd 24:04), Rylie Suchor (94th 25:50) and Amber Schmaltz (97th 25:56).

The boys team took eighth place out of 33 teams with an overall score of 274. Riley Zachmeier led the Panther boys, taking 26th place out of 183 runners (18:23 time). Also placing for the boys were Kadin Neppl (33rd 18:40), Dawson Schepp (51st 19:29), Austin Dibble (56th 19:38), Robert Dibble (108th 21:13) and Malachi Dosch (111th 21:20).

The cross country teams competed in Northwood on Thursday. On Sept. 4 the teams will compete at the Turtle Mountain Meet in Dunseith.
