Michael Anthony "Mickey" Hoffner

Michael "Mickey" Anthony Hoffner, 60, of Maddock, ND, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 in rural Esmond, ND. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30AM Friday, August 24, 2018 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond, ND with Fr. Brian Bachmeier celebrating mass. Visitation took place Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with Rosary and Vigil service at 7:00PM. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial was at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Esmond, ND. Music was provided by Becky Brandvold, Rosalie Axtman and Kenny Striefel. Casket bearers were Terence Hoffner, Jerald Hoffner, Todd Hoffner, Gary Haman, Pete Haman and Curtis Haman.

Michael Anthony Hoffner was born October 24, 1957 to Leo and Arlene (Brown) Hoffner in Rugby, ND. He was raised in Esmond, ND and graduated from Esmond High

School with the class of 1975. Mickey was active in football and basketball during school, being part of the 1974 State Championship football team his senior year. Mickey worked on the family farm and milked cows while growing up. After high school he worked for Lunde Construction and Pfau Construction before he began his own company, Hoffner Construction. On September 17, 1982 Mickey married Karen Haman in Rugby, ND and the couple purchased their own farm while continuing to farm his parents land.

Mickey enjoyed sporting activities, especially golf and collecting coins. Some of his favorite sports teams were the Chargers, Bison, Yankees and Mankato Mavericks. One of the softball teams he played for was Black Hills Flyway. It was comprised of Hoffner brothers and cousins. Mickey's family was the most important to him. He supported his children, Amy, Travis and Kylee in their endeavors and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Hunting deer was a hobby he enjoyed with Travis and the Dosch boys. Mickey was a volunteer firefighter in Esmond, served on township board and was a member of the St. Williams Catholic

Church in Maddock.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen; children, Amy (Ryan) Gilleland of DeKalb, IL, Travis (Erica) Hoffner of Grand Forks, ND and Kylee (Brendan) McGoldrick of Fargo, ND; parents, Leo and Arlene (Brown) Hoffner; 7 grand-children, Bennett, Wesley and Brantley Hoffner, Avery, Bergen and Hadley McGoldrick and Charlie Gilleland; siblings, Gregory Hoffner of Devils Lake, ND, Bernadette (Vern) Roller of Bismarck, ND, Terence (Tracy)

Hoffner of Algona, WA, Jerald (Karla) Hoffner of West Fargo, ND and Todd (Melodee) Hoffner of Eagle Lake, MN.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Elizabeth Hoffner and Alfred and Mable Brown; brother-in-law, Vernon Haman; niece, Nicole Roller and

nephew, Monte Hoffner.
