Successful 2018 for 4H shooting sports

June 15, 2018
Pierce County Tribune

Pierce County 4H Shooting Sports had a very successful season in 2018. The program increased from thirty to fifty participants this year!

One night a week from January through March, 4H'ers and their instructors met at the armory to shoot archery and air rifle. The program is open to all skill levels and youth are welcome to bring their own archery equipment. Youth do not have to be involved in traditional 4H to participate, but it is encouraged. The age requirements are 8 years old as of January 1st through seniors in high school. Participants are encouraged to attend various competitions across the state but it is not required.

Some very talented youth participated in indoor competitions this past winter. Jaxon Heilman took first place in the beginner freestyle archery at the Southeast District Match in Fargo and in the Northwest District Match in Minot and was the state beginner freestyle indoor champion! Lucas Wentz took first place in the beginner freestyle archery at the Northeast District Match in Cando and second place in the Northwest District Match in Minot and took third place in the beginner freestyle indoor state championship!
