Rugby Panthers baseball has had an active past 10 days. Tuesday night, May 8, Panthers boys varsity played the Northern Light Comets in a Region 5 makeup game at Rolette where the Panthers beat the Comets 11 4.

The Panthers scored in the top of the first inning, and were never behind the rest of this game. After three innings, it was 4 0 but because of mutiple errors by the Panthers, the Comets were able to grab three runs at the top of the fourth. The Panthers added three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The top three Panthers batters scoring in the game were Landen Foster, Seth Jaeger, and Mayson McCabe, with seven runs and five batted in. Shayden Luna pitched 6 innings-walking two, surrendering 3 hits, nine strikeouts, and four runs unearned.

This brought the Panthers to 7-2 and 7-1 in Region 5. This was the second regional road victory of the week.

Previously on Monday, May 7, the Panthers played in Bottineau against the Braves. There the weather turned terrible in the second inning, and the players had to take not one, but two timeouts to let the lightning pass. The Panthers did not let the weather deter them. The Panthers scored three runs in the top of the second followed by Isaiah Johnson hitting a home run. It was game on from there with the Panthers soaring to a 20-5 win.

Last Thursday, May 3, the Panthers took on the Dunseith Dragons in an impressive double header. Rugby won the first 21-1 and the second 27-0.

The next game for the Panthers was Thursday against Cando's North Star at 4:15 at Cando. Details were not available at press time.

The subsequent game is today, Saturday, May 12 at Rugby where the Panthers will host the Boys Varsity Jamboree at the baseball diamond at 10:30 a.m.

Next week on Monday, the Panthers take on the Harvey/Wells Hornets at Rugby at 4:15 p.m.
