Merkley awarded Army Commendation Medal

CAMP GRAFTON TRAINING CENTER, N.D. - Spc. David N. Merkley, of Rugby, North Dakota, received the Army Commendation Medal Dec. 14 during a ceremony at Camp Grafton Training Center, near Devils Lake, North Dakota. He is a member of the 164th Regiment Regional Training Institute (RTI).

Merkley was presented the award after begin selected as "Support Soldier of the Year" for the 164th RTI. He earned this distinction for his superior performance in administrative duties after being nominated by his peers and leaders.

A full-time employee for the North Dakota National Guard, Merkley serves as a medic/human resource specialist. He has been a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard for five years and previously served in the active-duty Army for nine years.
