Weather lowers JDA meeting attendance

The Rugby Job Development Authority board held a regular meeting on December 28, at the Rugby JDA Office, but weather appeared to have kept participation low.

On the agenda was the "What's On Your Mind" meeting that was held but ended up seeing items tabled. The one primary item mentioned was the armory and ideas about a new community center. This item was tabled for later discussion.

Top areas of priority that were discussed were membership and the upcoming terms that are ending. The JDA encourages new residents who have not been on the committee before to apply. A committee was created to action this item.

The board passed a motion to allow ex-officio members, primarily the auditors (Jennifer Stewart and Karin Fursather) to vote.

Three members volunteered to conduct the search for the new JDA executive director, replacing Liz Heisey who resigned in December. The search committee consists of Mike McNeff, Gary Kraft and Karin Fursather.

In other items, North Dakota's Main Street program will be holding a summit in the future, and the JDA was request to be a sponsor. A motion was passed to have Heilman research how the JDA should be involved in the Governor's Main Street Initiative.

Arrangements were made to monitor the JDA office for the current future, and the JDA will look for temporary office staff.
