Rugby wrestlers defeat Stanley, 33-18

Rugby hosted the Stanley-Velva-Rugby Wrestling Triangular on Thursday, Dec 21. The final winner of the Wrestling Triangular was Velva Aggies 54 25 over the Rugby Panthers.

The first match of the wrestling tournament of the two-town dual was Rugby Panthers versus Stanley Blue Jays with a final score of Rugby Panthers 33 and Stanley Blue Jays 18. During the first 106 weight class Rugby's Riley Odden won by major decision over Justin Germundson, of the Blue Jays, 16-5. Later in the 138 class, Riley Zachmeier won by a technical fall over Trent Anderson in 2:24. Joey Berg won by pin over Camden Reep 4:48. Cody Rudolph (Stanley) won by decision over Brady Volk, Rugby, 10-3.

The second dual of the wrestling tournament was Velva Aggies versus Stanley Blue Jays with a final outcome of Velva 32 over Stanley 18.

In the Rugby versus Velva final match, Riley Zachmeier won by Major Decision over Braetyn Yanish 14-4. Joey Berg won by pin over Isaac Lorenz (Velva) 2:26. Dylan Grove Rugby won by a forfeit in the 152 weight class. Velva's Brock Selzler won by forfeit. DJ Schneibel (Rugby) won by a decision over Kutter Blumhagen, of Velva, 8-3.

The Rugby Wrestlers will be on the road Jan 5 & 6th competing in Douglas, Wyo.
