December 22, 2017
Pierce County Tribune

The Bottineau-Rugby Braves picked up two wins last week, one at home and the other on the road.

In a non-conference game in Bottineau, the Braves defeated the Hazen-Beulah North Stars, 9-0. The game saw eight different Braves score, with Ian Amsbaugh getting two goals on the night and Adam Handeland, Riley Olson, Nic Costa, Riley Biberdorf, Gabe Clements and Jace Scherr each had one goal.

The next night, the Braves went on the road to face a Williston team that only had one goal in its prior three games.

After a scoreless first period, Wyatt Haakenson-with assists from Scherr and Clements-got the Braves on the board in the second.

The third period saw Haakenson and Scherr not just score goals, but also have involvement in some way. Scheer got the first goal of the period, with Haakenson and Clements providing an assist. Haakenson would get the next, with Scherr's assistance.

Bottineau-Rugby improved its record to 2-3 overall.

The next action for the Braves includes a trip to Wadena, Minn., to compete in a two-day tournament there starting Dec. 28.
