Braves fall to Jamestown, Dickinson

December 8, 2017
Pierce County Tribune

The Bottineau-Rugby Braves lost two home games over the past weekend.

The Braves faced Jamestown at the Al Wentz Arena in Rugby where they lost 7-2 and Dickinson the next day at the Bottineau Community Arena where they lost 10-4.

It was all Jamestown the first period, with Cole Bennion striking first on an unassisted goal. Devin Hofmann was next to follow with an assist from Alex Senf. Senf would then have an unassisted goal all his own.

Connor Fuchs, with an assist from Leo Halko, got a fourth point on the board for Jamestown in the second period.

Then the Braves got on the board less than a minute later with a Riley Rybchinski (assisted by Ian Amsbaugh and Lance Rosendahl) goal.

In the third period, Hofmann got two more goals necessary for a hat trick, and then assisted on a Tommy Gunderson goal.

Riley Olson (with an assist by Amsbaugh) then got another goal for the Braves.

The next day started similarly, with the first period being all Dickinson. Joseph Pavek assisted Ryan Bren on two goals, getting Dickinson to a 2-0 lead early.

In the second period, Alex Hoffert (Amsbaugh with the assist) netted the Braves' first goal of the game less than a minute in. Dickinson responded in with two goals minutes apart, the first coming from the Bren and Joseph Pavek team and the next coming from Cody Shepard (assisted by Peter Pavek).

Landon Rosendahl would then net two goals within 14 seconds of each other. At the end of the period, the Braves would be down 6-3.

Wyatt Haakenson (with an assist from Jace Scherr) opened the third period with a goal for the Braves.

Shepard would later get three goals on the period for Dickinson.

The Braves played a non-conference game in Boissevain, Manitoba, Tuesday.

The Braves will travel to Williston on Dec. 16. Other actions include a tournament in Wadena before the end of the year.
