Hilda Agnes Buckmeier

Sept. 26, 1921- Nov. 3, 2017

Hilda Agnes Buckmeier, 96, formerly of Rugby, died on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. She was born on September 6, 1921, the 7th of 10 children to Anton and Mary (Steiner) Bruner in Schiller Township north of Drake, North Dakota. Hilda grew up in the area and attended Funston School near Drake. She helped on the family farm until she married Stonas Buckmeier in Anamoose on October 7, 1940. She and Stonas farmed near

Balta until they purchased a farm north of Knox, North Dakota in 1944.

While raising their 12 children, she had many other interests including coin and stamp collecting, gardening, raising flowers, bowling, embroidering, and quilting.

Hilda found time to work at the Rugby Greenhouse for 5 years during the spring season. They retired in 1976 and moved to Rugby. She was a member of the Little

Flower Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

She is survived by her children: Janice (Alex) Haman, Florian, and Arlan all of Fairbanks, Alaska; Joyce Froelich and Virginia (Ralph) Henning Bismarck; Sylvia Kruger Ramsey, Minnesota; Mary Lou Vigesaa Altamont, Illinois; Stanis (Kathy) Fort Lupton, Colorado; Leland (Jane) West Fargo; Lois (Larry) Signalness Watford City, North Dakota; and Allen Northglenn, Colorado and two sisters: Rita (Benny) Lemar Minot and Joann Schneid-er Rock Springs, Wyoming. There are 21 Grandchildren and 37 Great Grandchildren that will miss their grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Jerome and two sons-in-laws, Robert Vigesaa and Richard Kruger.

Funeral services were held at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Prabhakar Marneni officiating. She will be

buried in Little Flower Cemetery beside her husband and son. Visitation was only at Little Flower Church on Wednesday after 1 P.M.
