After taking the Region 5 championship title for the second year in a row, the Panthers were in for a rough go at the state tournament last week in Jamestown.

A loss to the top-seeded Thompson Tommies (who later fell to the Park River-Fordville-Lankin Aggies) sent the Panthers to the consolation bracket.

After a scoreless first inning for both teams, the Tommies got on the board first and had a 4-0 advantage at the end of three innings. Panthers pitcher Dillon Marco was able to get three strikeouts in over five innings. Classmate Kyle Ebach was able to get two of the Panthers' five hits, and Seth Jaeger got one hit and an RBI.

In the first round of consolation play, the Panthers saw Bishop Ryan. Rugby was able to get two runs early in the first inning. Shayden Luna was able to go 1-for-2 and get an RBI.

Bishop Ryan then tied things up in the second inning, then got a run in the third, two more in the fourth and one in the sixth. Bishop Ryan saw Joey Zeece and Chase Burke each get two RBIs, and also saw RBIs from Cole Dauphinais and from pitcher Derek Bartsch.
