Rugby falls behind Northern Lights, Bishop Ryan in triangular

Rugby High School's wrestling team competed at a triangular on their home mats last week against Bishop Ryan (Minot) and Northern Lights (Rolla).

Bishop Ryan came away with the tournament, defeating Rugby 60-9 and Northern Lights 64-15. Northern Lights defeated Rugby, 33-24.

Wrestling at 120 and 126 pounds, sophomore Riley Zachmeier defeated both his opponents on the day by fall in less than two minutes.

Also defeating both of his opponents was junior Joey Berg, who defeated Bishop Ryan's Kaleb Beeter by 4-3 decision and Northern Lights' Darrion Wilson by major decision.

After falling to Bishop Ryan's Konner Beeter, Kaden Jaeger was able to come back and defeat Northern Lights' Alex Charette by decision.

The next action for the Panther wrestlers are triangulars in Velva (Jan. 5) and Harvey (Jan. 10) and tournaments in Central Cass (Jan. 6-7) and Rugby (Jan. 13-14).
