Letter: The Truth About District 14

May 6, 2016
Jeff Miller, Rugby , Pierce County Tribune

I will respond to only one portion of Dennis Fred's letter at this time. He claims that people in our district have been ignored, no meetings were held and those who wanted to be involved were told there was nothing they needed to do.

This could not be farther from the truth. I have been involved in district and state Republican politics for almost 50 years. My Grandfather and Mother were both state legislators, and I was chairman of the NDSU college Republican Club. I have been active on the district level for almost 40 years, served as district chairman for 11 years and have never heard anyone told there was nothing for them to do. We usually have quarterly meetings that are open to the public and I don't know who was ignored. Since Dennis has been active in district politics for only one year, I think I have more history to base my claims on. As a matter of fact, we have always found it difficult to get people to be active in district political activities as very few want to take the time. Just getting people to allow a yard sign to be put up in their yards is sometimes difficult. It has been my experience that our legislators work hard for this district and are very accessible. I urge you to vote to re-elect Jon Nelson, Robin Weisz and Jerry Klien . They have done a very good job representing us.

Jeff Miller,

Rugby
