Wolford Students Create Music On A Computer

October 2, 2015
Joseph T. Pelt - Tribune Editor , Pierce County Tribune

The Wolford Public School system is using computer software to compose music. This phenomena is part of the curriculum in Dave Halvorson's third and fourth grade music class. The students use a computer program to compose music. The allure of composing on computers is simple: It gives you greater freedom to be more creative. You don't have to worry about what direction a piece of music will take. Once a chord is entered, a student can make any chord changes he or she likes, as fast as he or she likes, and with the computer playing it back to the student for his or her approval. Hats off to Wolford for taking creativity to the next level.
