Shopko celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, Aug. 23 29, by offering teachers a special discount on all the goods they need for their classroom. Shopko Hometown then then surprised an unsuspecting teacher with a $500 donation from the Shopko Foundation.

Mike Santjer, a 6th grade teacher at Ely Elementary School, was surprised when Store Manager Dave Lyon presented him with a donation.

"Many teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies, " said Lyon. "It was fun to surprise Mr. Santjer and thank him for all he does."
