Music From the Heart Talks To Us All

Thirty-two Rugby musicians will be competing at the Class B State Music Contest. The Regional Vocal Music Contest was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Minnewaukan Public School spoke volumes to all those in attendance. Five of Rugby's events received a star and will be competing at state. These students are:

The Regional Instrumental Music Contest was held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the North Star Public School. Twelve of Rugby's events received a star and will be competing at state. These students are:

Karin Selland flute solo

Maria Mack oboe solo, also received outstanding performance

Lauren Kraft, Allyson Kleespie, and Madalyn Pretzer clarinet trio

Kaitlyn Boucher trumpet solo, also received outstanding performance

Nolan Hovland, Jacob Berginski, Lucas Antonson, and Kaitlyn Boucher trumpet quartet

Helen Johnson and Allison Foster French Horn duet, also received outstanding performance

Darby Deckert trombone solo

Darby Deckert, Thor Skjelver, Anders Johnson, and Landen Foster trombone quartet

Kyle Lashman tuba solo

Kade Leier snare drum solo

Kari Hill, the Rugby High School Band and Choir director, shared with the Tribune, "I'm very proud of all of my students that competed at both contests regardless of their rating. Great job Rugby musicians!"
