Pierce County Tribune

Pierce County's junior 4-H Hippology team wrapped up their season at NDSU on March 28-29, 2015 with the state 4-H Hippology, Horse Judging, and Quiz Bowl contests.

The girls once again represented Pierce County residents well by placing seventh in both the Hippology and Horse Judging contests. The team included Kimberlee Leier (daughter of Lee Allen & Rebecca Leier), Mika Guty (daughter of Steve & Kindra Guty), and Joey Wolf (daughter of Lee & Sandra Wolf).

Cole Anderson of the Benson County Hippology team was a welcome addition to the Pierce County team for Sunday's Quiz Bowl contest.

Hippology contests consist of a 50 question written test, identification of 50 horse-related items, a team problem presentation, and horse judging. In the Horse Judging contest, individuals place six classes of four horses each and provide an oral reasons presentation for two of those classes. The Quiz Bowl is a timed, 'buzz-in' game show contest that tests contestants' horse knowledge. State contest winners in the senior division continue on to the national contest. The contest season usually runs January through March.
