Schepp, Tryba to compete at State Spelling Bee

Rugby seventh graders Dawson Schepp and Victoria Tryba will compete at the State Spelling Bee competition in Bismarck, March 30, 2015 at the Ramkota Hotel.

A maximum of two student winners from each county, for a total of 98 students, will compete in the one-day event. They will first compete in a written test, from which 25 finalists are chosen. The finalists compete on an equal basis in an oral spelldown, and prizes are presented to the first through fourth place winners.

The champion of the state bee will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. on May 24-30.

The state competition is hosted by the North Dakota Association of County Superintendents, in conjunction with the North Dakota Newspaper Association and the North Dakota Masonic Foundation.

Other area competitors include eighth graders Madilyn GeForce and Austin Schatz of Velva; eighth graders Jay Delorme and Jayden Lenoir, Rolette County; sixth grader Madison LaLonde and eighth grader Gavin Miller of North Star; and eighth graders Jacob Lawson and Dixie Posey, Harvey.

Wolford School Board has opening

Wanita Olson, business manager of the Wolford School Board, has announced that there will be two openings on the Board. The positions will be for three-year terms.

Anyone wishing to run for election must file intent with the school district business manager sixty-four (64) days prior to the election. This year the final date for filing will be April 21th, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.

Candidates must sign and file with the business manager of the school district a public official's financial disclosure statement.

Anyone who is 18 years of age who has been in the Wolford School District thirty (30) days is entitled to vote in this school election.

The annual school election will be held Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015.

The polls will be open at 11:00 a.m., Central Daylight Savins Time, and will close at 7:00 p.m., Central Daylight Saving Time.

The election will be held at the school cafeteria, which is located in the Wolford School.
